|We are looking for volunteers to assist our club in its service activities. You are seeing this page as you have offered, recently or in the past to volunteer your assistance to help the Mississauga Central Lions Club with one of its community service efforts. The areas where we most need your assistance is with our Sunday Lions Farmers Market. The other project needing periodic assistance is our efforts to collect and recycle used eyeglasses and hearing aids.|
We have several tasks that require volunteers at our Sunday Farmers Market which runs weekly through the end of October annually. We need volunteers to help direct traffic into and through the market parking areas. Volunteers will stand off the roadway wearing a Lions Yellow Vest (supplied by the club for your use on the days you volunteer) while directing traffic. Other roles may include cleanup tasks, counting visitors to the market and other tasks as assigned by the Market Manager Manny Castellino.
The Farmers Market is our largest fundraiser; the parking lot we use is donated for our use as a farmers market, and we donate all funds raised from the rental of the stalls to farmers to charities and causes that benefit mankind locally and globally. You can see who benefits from our efforts at http://bit.ly/Organizationssupported.
We also are looking for volunteers to assist us with packing donated used eyeglasses several times throughout the year.
If you are interested and willing to assist us please do the following:
- Please send an email to both firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com indicating your willingness to volunteer, and which project you are interested in assisting with. Please include your contact information (mobile phone & email address).
- If you are willing to help at the Farmers Market please provide me with a list of the Sundays you can be available and your preference of shifts 8:00am to noon, 9:00 am to 1:00 PM, 10:00 am to 3:00PM or 11:00am to 4PM. Shifts may be variable and are customizable to your availability
- Please come to the market on Sunday Morning; when you arrive ask any farmer to identify Lion Manny Castellino. You can reach him on mobile at 647-830-0216. Manny will set you up with a vest and assign you to assisting role.
The Market is open every Sunday through the end of October 2019. We will happily provide confirmation of service hour donated for students.
I have appended a one page flyer which we would appreciate your sharing through school social media, on bulletin boards, and any other means at your disposal to identify more volunteers . If you tweet opportunities to students, you may try posting this “Volunteers opportunities with Mississauga Central Lions Club at our Sunday Lions Farmers Market. Details at http://bit.ly/MCLCVolunteers”
While one of my roles in our Lions Club is volunteer coordinator I will not be able to assist with the markets affairs for the next two weeks. In the interim we will still need volunteers. Please contact Lion Manny at the number above during this time.
